Memorize Scripture in
one minute a day.
And keep it for life — not just until Sunday. Ingrain brings each verse back at the moment you’re about to forget it, and now lets you practice hands-free while you drive, walk, or wash up. Free to start, and no account required.

You’ve read that verse a hundred times.
Can you say it?
Reading isn’t remembering. You underline a passage, mean to hold onto it, and a week later it’s gone. Not because you didn’t care — because memory needs deliberate review, timed right.
“Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.”
— Psalm 119:11, KJV
Memorize with your hands full
Nobody has a spare half hour. Everybody has a commute.
Put your headphones in and let Ingrain do the work. You listen, you recall, you keep walking — no reading, no typing, no looking down.
Choose two to five practice rounds per verse. The more rounds, the deeper it goes.
- The reference is spoken — so you always know where you are
- The verse plays in a clear, natural voice
- A chime opens the recall window
- Silence, long enough to say it back in your mind
- A check prompt closes the round, then it comes round again
It runs as one continuous session with full Lock Screen and Control Center controls, so it behaves like any other audio on your phone. Finish, and Repeat This Lesson lets you run it again with more rounds. Audio is cached after the first play, so replaying a verse is instant.
Your voice never leaves your phone. Hands-free needs no microphone at all — you recite in your mind. And in the separate Speak It exercise, speech recognition runs entirely on your device. We never receive your audio. Try it free — a short Quick Start session is available before you subscribe.

One card. One minute. Done.
Open Ingrain and there’s a single card waiting — today’s passage, ready to go. Tap it, work through it, and your day is complete. No deciding what to study, no planning, no guilt about the reading plan you abandoned in March.
It’s deliberately small, because showing up tomorrow matters more than anything you could do today.
Spaced repetition, applied to Scripture
Ingrain tracks how well you know every passage and schedules its return at the precise moment you’re about to forget it. Answer correctly and the interval stretches out — days, then weeks, then months. It’s the same method medical students use to retain a great deal for a very long time.
Learn
Meet the passage in its surrounding context, hear it read aloud, then work up through progressively harder exercises.
Review
Ingrain surfaces each verse right before it fades. Get it right and you won’t see it again for a good while.
Strengthen
Ingrained verses stay strong with brief reinforcement — or hands-free, while you’re doing something else.
Four milestones from “never seen it” to “know it cold”
Every passage climbs the same ladder. You earn each milestone only when you’ve cleared every exercise in that tier — so progress means something.
Introduced
You’ve read the passage in context and heard it read aloud.
Familiar
You can recognize the verse among others and match it to its reference.
Learning
You can rebuild the verse — filling in missing words or ordering it correctly.
Ingrained
You can speak it and write it from memory. It’s yours.
Eight ways to work a verse into memory
A session mixes exercises in order of difficulty, so you’re never asked to recall something you haven’t been properly introduced to. And Ingrain marks you kindly — capitalization, punctuation and a slipped letter never cost you credit.
Listen
Hear the verse read aloud and meet it properly before any recall is asked of you.
Context
Read the surrounding Scripture, so you learn what the verse is actually saying.
Flashcard
Rate how well you know it before moving into harder retrieval.
Matching
Connect references to their passages.
Fill in the Blank
Use the clues to finish the verse.
Word Order
Rebuild the verse from word pills. Tap a placed pill to take it back.
Write It
Type it from memory. Capitalization and punctuation don’t count against you, and a single wrong letter in a long word is forgiven.
Speak It
Say it aloud, with the same tolerance — and extra forgiveness for older wording like the KJV’s.
Learn whole chapters, not just verses
Psalm 23. Romans 8. 1 Corinthians 13. Ingrain breaks a chapter into small pieces and builds them up cumulatively — learn the first few verses, recite them together, then add the next.
Progress reads as “you can recite verses 1 to 14 of 31”, which is a great deal more motivating than a percentage. And a long passage is exactly the kind of thing that’s easiest to drill hands-free.

Turn Sunday’s sermon into this week’s verses
Your pastor referenced eleven passages and you wrote down two of them. Paste the link to the sermon video — or the transcript — and Ingrain finds every Scripture reference in it and builds you a list.
You review what it found before anything is saved. Then start memorizing the verses you actually heard preached, instead of the ones you managed to scribble down.
- Paste a link or a transcript — from supported public sources.
- Every reference, found for you — including the ones mentioned in passing.
- You approve the list before it’s created. Nothing is added behind your back.

A full Bible, and the tools to dig in
Seven complete translations, from the poetry of the KJV to the plain vocabulary of the Bible in Basic English. Tap any verse and you’re one step from memorizing it, studying its original language, or comparing every translation side by side.
- KJV, WEB, ASV, BSB, BBE, YLT and Douay-Rheims — switch freely as you read.
- Strong’s Concordance — tap a word for its Hebrew or Greek entry.
- Cross-references from the Treasury of Scripture Knowledge.
- Bible dictionary, highlighting, favorites, and parallel translations.

Everyone on the same passage
Create a group for your small group, youth group, family or class, and share a join code. As leader you choose what everyone works on — set a focus verse, and build a shared library of passages and lists the whole group can practice.
There are no feeds, no comments, no photos and no messaging. Nothing to scroll, nothing to police. Just everyone learning the same Scripture at the same time.
- Set the focus — a verse, passage, list or plan at the top of everyone’s group screen.
- Curate a shared library — add passages, lists and verses your group works through together.
- Joining is always free. Only the leader needs Ingrain+.

Prove you actually know it
Memorizing a verse in a practice session is one thing. Recalling it cold, under time pressure, with nothing in front of you, is another. Quiz is where you find out which one you’ve done.
It only ever tests passages you’ve genuinely learned — you’ll never be quizzed on something you haven’t studied.
- Five timed formats — identify the reference, recall the verse, name the first line, true or false, and fill the gap.
- Adaptive difficulty — shakier verses get recognition questions; solid ones get straight recall.
- Earn Mastered — an Ingrained verse that holds a high score under quiz pressure graduates to Mastered.
- Unlocks at five passages, so there’s something real to test.

And something with nothing at stake
Trivia has nothing to do with your memory work. It won’t touch your progress, won’t risk your streak, and won’t ask anything of you.
It’s there for the evenings when you want to open your Bible app but don’t have the energy for a lesson — which, if we’re honest, is most evenings.
- Questions across the whole Bible — People, Places & Journeys, Miracles, Parables & Teachings, Numbers & Facts and more.
- A Daily Challenge — ten questions and bonus XP, once a day.
- Ten ranks to climb — from Seedling to Cornerstone.
- It still counts — completing a quiz or lesson keeps your streak, so a light day is never a lost day.

Before you start
How does hands-free memorization actually work?
Open Memorize → Hands-Free, choose your verses, then pick how many practice rounds you want — two to five. Each round speaks the reference, plays the verse, chimes, leaves silence for you to recall it, then closes with a check prompt. It runs as one continuous session with Lock Screen and Control Center controls, and you can repeat the whole lesson with more rounds when you finish. You’ll see a time estimate before you start.
Does Ingrain record or upload my voice?
No. Speech recognition runs entirely on your own device. Your audio is never sent to us, never sent to a third party, and never stored anywhere. Only your score is saved. You can decline microphone access at any time and everything else keeps working.
Do I need an account?
No. You can use Ingrain as a guest and your progress is kept on your device. A free account adds cloud sync, so your streaks, progress and favorites carry across your phone, tablet and browser — and means nothing is lost if you change devices.
Is one minute a day really enough?
To keep momentum, yes — and momentum is what actually determines whether you’re still doing this in six months. Spaced repetition works by touching each verse briefly, many times, at the right intervals. A short daily session genuinely outperforms one long weekly sitting. On days you want to do more, nothing stops you.
Can I memorize a whole chapter?
Yes. Pick a chapter or verse range and Ingrain splits it into small chunks, then builds them cumulatively — you learn the first few verses, recite them together, then add more, always from the beginning. It’s how people actually memorize long passages, and it pairs naturally with hands-free practice.
Which translations are included?
Seven: King James Version, World English Bible, American Standard Version, Berean Standard Bible, Bible in Basic English, Young’s Literal Translation, and the Douay-Rheims 1899. All are public domain, which is what lets us include them at no cost to you.
How do groups work?
An Ingrain+ member creates a group and shares a join code. Anyone can join free. The leader sets a focus — a verse, list or passage — and can build a shared library the whole group practices together. There’s no chat, no comments, no posts and no photos, so there’s nothing to scroll and nothing to police. Only the leader needs Ingrain+.
What does the lifetime option include?
A one-time $79.99 payment that unlocks every Ingrain+ feature permanently — no subscription, nothing to cancel, and it covers features we add to Ingrain+ later. It restores across your devices through your store account.
Do I need a connection to use it?
Ingrain is an online app — it needs a connection to load Scripture, generate and stream verse audio, and sync your progress. Audio you’ve already heard is cached, so replaying a verse is instant, but plan on having signal when you practice.
How do I cancel Ingrain+?
Through your App Store or Google Play subscription settings, any time. Cancel during the 7-day free trial and you won’t be charged. Otherwise it renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the current period ends. The lifetime purchase has nothing to cancel.
